IPSec Site to Site doesn't support Multicast. EIGRP with neighbor
statements would work over it. But you are missing the point of other
topologies that can use Multicast such as IPsec over GRE or DMVPN for Point
to Multipoint.

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_RS] Can IPSec work with routing protocol ?

Hi :

I was digging into IPSec and always I read that IPSec can not be used with
Routing protocol.

But today when I established site to site VPN with EIGRP running between
them , It worked.

I was able to encrypt all the packets.

I wonder how IPSec worked with EIGRP. I really dont know and now I am in
total confusion.

Could anyone please share , can IPSec work with Routing protocol without GRE
?

Sincerely,
Taqdir Singh
