Backup the configuration. All VLAN information is included in the config, which is the same as on more recent IOS versions. This is only the case if you use the switch as VTP server or transparent, in client mode you will not have the VLAN information in your config, but then there is no reason for a backup as well, as you will learn the information automatically when you replace the switch :-) --
