Hey Jon,

I wanted to add that this will usually happen if you have a wrong IP/mask or 
similar...ARP will drop requests that are not on the same network.

Check your interface IP/masks and be sure you are using the correct interfaces 
per the diagram. It is easy to mix up fa0/0 with fa0/1 sometimes : )
