While configuring the rate-limit command I noticed that the numbers I put in
were being changed to something else. For example, when I put in 1500000 it
modifies it to 1496000. Can anyone tell me why this happens?

inter fa0/0
rate-limit output 1500000 64000 64000 conform transmit exceed drop

interface FastEthernet0/0
ip address 150.100.12.1 255.255.255.0
rate-limit output 1496000 64000 64000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop
priority-group 1

R1#show int fa0/0 rate-limit
FastEthernet0/0 Link to R2
  Output

params: 1496000 bps, 64000 limit, 64000 extended limit

Thank you,
Steve
