Hey Dude,

"tunnel mode gre ipv6" carries IPv4 packets over IPv6 networks, to carry IPv6
over IPv4 networks you need the "tunnel mode gre ip" command.

tunnel mode gre <-- with the "ip" keyword you can carry different types of
traffic over IPv4 networks (ike IPv6), with "ipv6" keyword it's the reverse
tunnel mode ipv6 <-- Carries IPv4 packets across IPv6 networks
tunnel mode ipv6ip <-- Carries IPv6 packets over IPv4 networks (6to4, isatap,
etc)

Thank you,

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_RS] IPV6 GRE tunnel

I am trying to establish an IPV6 GRE tunnel and the only way I can get it to
work is if I have a valid IPv6 source and destination. Is it not possible to
tunnel GRE ipv6 over IPv4? I realize you can do an ipv6ip and make this work.

I guess I am a bit confused, what are the differences between

tunnel mode gre
tunnel mode ipv6
tunnel mode ipv6ip

Thank you,

Marc
