When you're doing crazy crap like this and other aggressive debugs (ie debug ip packet, debug sanity (I dont know what this command does, but the router accepts it, and no, I have never got it to output anything, I just wanted to type it into an email for laughs)), open a second vty (telnet/ssh) to it. Then when the thing goes ballistic you can turn the debug off via the second vty. It may be prudent to open the second vty PRIOR TO you beginning your crazy debugging or super-verbose logging.
