Gday, I did my lab in Sydney and there is space to leave your phone and luggage securely. Proctor mentioned if it rang he would fail us so everyone turned theirs off. I certainly wasn't prepared to test his warning.
Stay in the Mantra, its about a 10 minute walk away and the rooms are reasonably comfy. Pacific Highway can be loud so maybe ask if you can have a room which does not face the road. There is also bugger all to do in the area except get smashed but I'd advise against taking that option the day before your lab.
