It wouldn't work :-(. Using anything but a 2500 would require an
unfortunate change of port numbers for async ports. We tried to
replace them with a more modern routers, but the change was
logistically unviable for a very little gain.

In the next equipment refresh, we may use alternate solutions (i.e.
MRV console routers instead of Cisco). It's not due anytime soon
though :-)
