Michael,

That is correct. If the summary has the same distance as the more specific
the more specific will be suppressed. Good Catch.

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Security] Lab 1A - objective 1.5

Hi Everyone - I am new to this list, so here is my first post. I am
studying for the CCIE sec lab, and have completed the volume 1 workbooks. I
am now on lab 1A, objective 1.5 on the updated material - configure SLA
monitoring for the default route to R2 (192.1.24.2). I configured the SLA
monitoring as per the proctor guide, configuring the backup route to
192.1.24.4 with a distance of 5 and noticed that when I shut the interface
on R2, that the route to R4 was not coming up. Instead I was getting a
Null0 route created by eigrp to 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0. I removed the eigrp
summary address command from earlier in the lab and the route appeared
correctly. Then after doing a show run I noticed this -

interface Ethernet0/0.7

 summary-address eigrp 200 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 5

My summary address also had a distance of 5 - put there by the IOS - I did
not specify this. When I made my static backup route to 192.1.24.4 with a
cost of 4, it worked! Did anyone else notice this?? One to look out for...
