Jesse,

If you use the Dynamips information provided in your student account you
will have the full capability for everything you are looking to do. The
physical connectivity never changes from lab to lab. Just the logical
connectivity.

With the power of the server you are using you could probably change from
the 3725's to the 7206VXR with 12.4(22)T which is what we are using in the
labs. You can use the NPE-1G network processor. By doing that your rack
will virtually be like ours.

The only shortcoming will be the IPS. You can use the vmware image of IDS
with version 6.0 to do a lot of testing but you will not be able to complete
any of our IPS labs completely as we use the virtual appliances in all the
new labs. But you should be 99% of the way there.

If you have the capability of something like a Linksys switch or other
vendor switch that supports dot1q trunking I would recommend that over the
3524XL because it will allow you to pass CDP and other information thru
transparently.

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Security] IPExpert Lab

Hello All,

I am building a study lab with the following:

2x 3560

2x 3550

2x ASA 5510 Sec+

Dell PowerEdge T300 Server:

1x Quad-Core Xeon

16GB RAM

2x 500GB HD

I will be running all of my routers (3725s running 14.4(15)T9) in Dynamips
with a 3524XL as a breakout switch to connect to the physical gear.

I will also be running VMWare for IPS, ACS/CA, and POSSIBLY the management
host.

My question is, If I cable the labs according to the IPExpert workbook
diagram, will I have to re-cable my lab each time I change labs? My goal,
since this pod will be running at my office, is to be able to access the pod
remotely via VPN and work through each lab PREFERABLY without having to
re-cable. Is this realistic?

Thanks!
