Well the command structure isn't exactly the same and all the features that are available in each. Everything feature is not supported across both platforms. But because there are a lot of similarities it does make it nice to have that recognition of similar functions because many things that you do on the router are similar on the ASA so remembering one will help you remember the other.
Examples of differences ASA MPF has the TCP normalizer IOS doesn't do this. IOS URL Filtering is done in MQC framework ASA does it globally But much of the L3/L4 inspection options of ASA and ZFW are very similar.
