As Tyson said, you can do a lot of things using the virtual environment only. I suggest you to use the dynamips+qemu instead of GNS3. GNS3 has dynamips and qemu integrated but you have some limitations that you dont have if you use dynamips+qemu. Check my page for examples of topologies I built:
http://ccie18473.net/dynamips4/dynamips4.htm You have the v1 and v2 topologies. The v1 have the ASA via Qemu. The v2 have the PIX via PEMU (integrated with dynamips).
