Cisco will take the money 90 days prior to your lab exam date, should your book it more than 90 in advance. If you book the lab within 90 days of your lab date, Cisco wants the money immediately (2-3 days) to confirm your seat or they will drop the booking.
To answer your question, I am not sure how many days in advance you should book, should you want to wait to the last minute to book. My experience with this is to book well in advance: 1. This will confirm your seat in the lab. 2. I always have to make travel arrangements. I have to confirm flight details and travel documentation to another country. If you don't have to travel far for the lab then this does not matter. 3. If you want to book a seat in a mobile lab then waiting to the last minute may not be an option. The mobile labs are always fully booked.
