Hello again.

I'm having some trouble understanding the "ip dhcp snooping information
option" requirement.

>From my understanding, Option 82, may actually be a good thing (please
correct me if I'm wrong) because it uniquely identifies the DHCP request.
When the DHCP Relay Agent (switch) intercepts the DHCP Request, and Option
82 is enabled, it appends the circuit ID and remote ID (typically the
switch's MAC Address) into the option 82 field and forwards the request to
the DHCP server.

With reference to Yusuf Lab 2 (Qn8.4) and other labs, when configuring DHCP
Snooping, the forwarding of Option 82 information is disabled

"no ip dhcp snooping information option"

Why do we do this, when I thought that uniquely identifying the DHCP request
is actually a good thing ? Or is it not ?

I understand the requirement to disable it if the DHCP Server doesnt support
Option 82, but I'm still confused about why else we should have it disabled.

I need some clarification on this

Thanks again

Mark
