"Troubleshooting" section on lab

Steve,

Yes Yusuf is now the lead PM over all tracks.

1. R&S Lab has 2 sections; 1 2 hour troubleshooting section and a 6 hour
configuration section. The troubleshooting is done completely on a virtual
set of equipment called IOU that is somewhat like Dynamips (But much
better).

2. You have to finish the troubleshooting before moving onto configuration.
They are two completely separate labs. Yes you have access to the product
documentation the entire time. You have about 10 trouble tickets currently
which is about 12 minutes per trouble ticket. Not a lot of time to be
looking things up though.

3. I would encourage to keep prepping like you are and make an attempt in
the current blueprint. I expect to see NAC framework go away with an
upgrade to ACS 5.0. Software will probably be upgraded to 8.3 or 8.4 and
15.0 on the routers. So you will have to account for the changes in each
software version. I don't know that they will change the platforms but we
will see of course.

We still have at least a year before I think the new blueprint will take
effect even if they announce it in the next three months as it will be six
months after they announce it.

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Security] Need more information about "Troubleshooting"
section on lab

It looks like Yusuf's replacement is going to be refreshing the security lab
in a few months. With all the horror stories going around about solid
candidates failing the lab because of OEQs, I'm pondering whether I want to
wait until the next version of the exam is released. They say OEQs are
going away and a troubleshooting section will be added. My questions is:

1. What is involved in the "troubleshooting" section? R&S lab is using it
right now

2. Is it a "mini" lab that you have to pass before you start the actual
lab? Is troubleshooting built into the lab? Do we have access to DOCCD
when doing the troubleshooting sections.

3. A lot of new information was added to the v3 lab. Can we expect a lot
of new information for the V4 lab? Since I've prepared for the V3 lab,
should I just try the V3 lab before it goes away, or should I just wait?

Thanks in advance Tyson,
