flash

The private keys are not allowed to be saved on flash as it is insecure. That
could be the reason. Try exporting it to nvram,

Search for my mail thread with subject "RSA key storage location on IOS router".

        All,

Does anyone have an idea as to why I am unable to export this
certificate to flash? See the error below. What am I missing?

R1(config)#crypto key export rsa R1.cisco.com pem url flash: 3des
cisco123

        % Key name: R1.cisco.com

           Usage: General Purpose Key

        Exporting public key...

        Destination filename [R1.cisco.com.pub]?

% Error: failed to open file.

% Error: failed to export key.

        Thanks for your assistance.
