Thanks everyone. I got it to work on a different router. I am not sure
why it does not work on R1 for me but I could get it to work on R4.
Both routers are 2600 routers.

Thanks again,

Subject: Re: [OSL | CCIE_Security] Issue when trying to export
certificate to flash

That command works for me.

I assume key is exportable?

The error message suggests (to me anyway) there is something wrong with
the destination 'Error: failed to open file.', does the filesystem
exist? (dir flash:) and does it have any free space? Can you copy other
things to flash (copy run flash:test.cfg) Can you format it with the IOS
(format flash: , assuming you don't have anything important on there)?

Good luck : )

All,

Does anyone have an idea as to why I am unable to export this
certificate to flash? See the error below. What am I missing?

R1(config)#crypto key export rsa R1.cisco.com pem url flash: 3des
cisco123

% Key name: R1.cisco.com

   Usage: General Purpose Key

Exporting public key...

Destination filename [R1.cisco.com.pub]?

% Error: failed to open file.

% Error: failed to export key.

Thanks for your assistance.
