Hello Robert, It will try and resolve that name to an IP address, but if you don't have a dns server specified, then it will give you the error you are seeing. However, after giving that error , it is still valid and you would enter into the mode where we have to now specify the key.
Here's an example : R2(config)#crypto key pubkey-chain rsa R2(config-pubkey-chain)#named-key rob Translating "rob" R2(config-pubkey-key)#key-string Enter a public key as a hexidecimal number ....
