My last lab was almost 30% troubleshooting. You have to bring up the ASA and 
complete all NAT related questions before we start the rest of the lab. So I 
really do not think that starting with trouble shooting will work. In my honest 
opinion complete the ASA and VPN which are the Core questions. But it is up to 
an individual's strategy. Part of IPS is core also. 

Adv sec, and attack mitigation are the killer sections :)
