I will take the GRE Tunnel everyone! :) A simple GRE tunnel can be a way to move certain types of IP traffic over a cloud that might not support the technology. For example, we might want to carry multicast traffic over a cloud that does not support it. Notice that a GRE tunnel by itself does not support any fancy security mechanisms like authentication or encryption of traffic.
Here is an example example of a GRE tunnel used for the transport of multicast traffic. Study this example carefully to master the concept of the GRE tunnel. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk828/technologies_configuration_example09186a00801a5aa2.shtml From: waheed Ahmed <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Reply-To: waheed Ahmed <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Date: Monday, October 29, 2012 8:27 AM To: CCIE Security <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>>, "[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>" <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Security] vpn types Dear All, I want to know the difference between the following :- SSL VPN GRE Tunnel IPSec Tunnel WebVPN Hope you will give some examples also.
