Gents,

Sorry for the delayed report here, it's been a pretty tough week. I went to
RTP to take the CCIE Security lab on Tuesday and I did not pass. I know it
must have been close, but still I did not earn the necessary points to pass.
A few notes for you below that may be useful for your future lab success -

1. The RTP proctor, David Blair, is a complete embarrassment to Cisco. Do
not pay much attention to the things he says/does before, during, and even
after the lab. He is unprofessional, abrasive, and seemingly unwilling to
earn his paycheck. Do not let this get to you, just do your thing.
2. The lab is delivered completely electronically, the only exception being
the two (more if you need it) pieces of paper for notes. You are given one
monitor and there is also a cup full of pens/pencils (including color).
3. The terminal emulator is putty. The putty windows are configured to
always be on top of anything else on your screen, so to see your diagram(s)
and/or RDP session you'll need to minimize putty. All of the equipment was
very responsive for about the first 6 hours for me. The last two hours
seemed as though the computer was having some minor problems, but nothing of
major concern.
4. I was there for 8 hours and 20 minutes (20 minute lunch). The lunch was
quite bad, bring your own if you'd like to. There are sodas and water
available to you during your exam, but you're able to bring your own as well
if you'd like.
5. The Cisco campus was very nice, the CCIE Labs were in building 3 @ RTP.
Make sure you visit the campus and find out where you need to go the day
before. They want you to be there at 7AM waiting outside the front door..
however the proctor may not be as punctual so don't be nervous about it
either way you will get 8 hours of lab time.
If you have any additional questions or anything about the lab feel free to
ask. Again, I will not be providing information regarding exam contents..
don¹t ask.

Good luck to all of you who are trying to do this the right way My next
lab is scheduled for July 30th in San Jose (after attending IPExpert's
bootcamp), hope to see some of you there!

Kind Regards,

Kevin Sheahan
