Jason, thank you so much for your expertise, support and patience J

I have I believe last two questions:

1. Do you know the way to turn off WMM support on Intel 3945 or
CB21?

2. Regarding initial 5.6 question: which exactly part of the
question points to Voice QoS? I've read it many times but have no
idea...

Thanks Jason, you have actually answerred my second question but not the
first one J

Let's try to sort the things out:

1. If we have non WMM client than its traffic is putted to the
Best Effort queue at AP. The question is: will the AP retain the current
QoS marking ? i.e. is it gonna be UP 2 and the outer DSCP value of LWAP
packet is gonna be AF2x? Or AP will replace the outer DSCP value with
SSID QoS level value?

*** This depends on the WLAN WMM setting. If it is set to Disabled,
then traffic (WMM and non-WMM) is mapped to the QoS Profile. If it is
set to WMM Allowed, then it depends on if the non-WMM traffic is marking
DSCP values on their packets. If so, those are used (up to the QoS
Profile). If they are not marked with DSCP, then they will get DSCP 0.

        2. If we have WMM client which supports TSPEC than its
traffic is putted to the required queue at AP side but this queue level
is LOWER or EQUAL than configured for this SSID. Is it correct?

*** The answer depends on if ACM has been enabled for the specific
Access Category. WMM client traffic is, as you suggest, put into the
appropriate queue up to the QoS Profile for the WLAN. However, if ACM
is enabled for Voice (for instance), and the WLAN has a Gold QoS
Profile, then any TSpec traffic requesting access to Voice will not be
allowed on the SSID. That traffic has to use Voice, which is not
allowed by the Profile.

3. If we have WMM client which does not support TSPEC than which
queue its traffic is gonna be placed to? Best Effort I expect?

*** See above. The use of the different queues by WMM clients is not
dependent on TSpec. However, if ACM is enabled, then TSpec comes into
play. And, if a WMM client without TSpec attempts to send a packet
using UP 6 with Voice ACM enabled, the packet will be blocked. It will
not be marked down.

4. Ii we asked "not to be able to use greater thank AC_Video" why
should we use Platinum QoS level instead of Gold?

*** That will depend on the rest of the requirement(s). In my example,
yes. If it was a different question (just using that phrase without
other components,) then it would be Gold, since Gold maps to the Video
AC.

level

I understand that that can be a very confusing question. I had
a certain reason for the way I put things, but it could be a bit
clearer. Technically, non-WMM clients can't use any AC categories -
they're not WMM! The other problem is that the documentation would lead
you to think that all non-WMM traffic gets marked to the highest value
allowed by the WLAN. That is only true if WMM is Disabled for a WLAN,
not if WMM is Allowed.

I may rewrite that question to be something like this:

"Configure SSID Guest2 to allow both WMM and non-WMM devices to
connect. If a WMM device connects, it should not be able to use greater
than AC Video without sending an ADDTS request."

        Hi Guys,

Task number 5.6 (question 2) asks for "...it should not be able
to use greater than AC_Video". Why do we configure Guest2 with Platinum
(Voice) QoS level in the solution guide?

As per my understanding the SSID QoS level is used to determine
the maximum QoS level allowed for clients of this SSID, hence we should
use Gold level in our case, shouldn't we?

        Thank you in advance!
