The WiSM is no longer on the exam, per the CCIEW v2 equipment list. However, VSS (which will require the VSS supervisor, and two 6500s each with one of those supervisors) is listed on the blueprint. I would also focus on QoS for the 6500.
For a home lab, building the quantities I would can be expensive. I would say two 5508s, or one 5508 and a 4400, if possible. Then, as many 2100s as you can afford. The issue is that the lab is not just about your ability to configure something. It also is about configuring that something on multiple pieces of the right equipment at the same time. It can become overwhelming in the midst of the exam to keep everything straight. If you can only afford a single WLC, a 2100 will provide much of what you need for working on basic configurations. Obviously, if you can afford a 5508 (or more) great. I also suggest using your home lab to build confidence in knowing how to configure something, while using an online rack rental for building that speed and recognition with a multiple WCS environment.
