Is this for voice or data? Presumably voice is your using -65.

I find that an AP every 40ft (12m) in an average office environment results in 
far too much co-channel interference, in particular at 2.4 GHz and more so when 
you throw in multiple floors. I haven't used Planner in AM but I receive 
predictive surveys performed in WCS and they usually have been performed with 
Voice set to a safety margin of 'Very Safe' or '7920 enabled'. This results in 
APs around the 40ft mark. This provides you with AP redundancy but imo AP 
redundancy is a poor design in most cases due to the crazy amount of resulting 
CCI resulting, particularly if doing voice at 5 GHz.

I received a WCS survey as above specifying ~160 APs and I put in 90 and I even 
think this may have been too high - this survey also included a few dozen APs 
in monitor mode for location.

When surveying I try to place my second AP around ~78 dBm which results in the 
overlap for voice I am looking for. This results in my rule-of-thumb of 20m (65 
ft) spacing of APs, which of course varies up and down depending on environment.

What options are available in AM Planner when it comes to specifying overlap?

Is this what you are seeing in other 802.11a 5Ghz deployments/predictive 
surveys for the above coverage requirements? Any sq ft rule of thumb you are 
using for 802.11a 5Ghz walled office?
