Hi Brian! I'm not familiar with the workbook in detail but yes it would be advantageous to know spanning tree to this detail. you never know what kind of question you could face but being prepared for issues like this will make it easier to implement a solution.

It has us do some basic trunking and portfast. The Verification in the solution guide shows us pinging the WLC's and switches from Cat1. Upon having issues being able to ping the MO site WLC3 @ 10.10.120.140 I found there is no route to get to the 10.10.120.128/26 network in the base config. The solution guide shows this as working just fine but that would be impossible at this point without adding a route on Cat2 for the 10.10.120.128/26 network. I guess I'm just curious is this an error in the workbook or was missing from the initial configs? I guess I just don't want to be missing something down the road? -- Thanks, Brian Stamper CCNP Wireless, VCP 5157243424 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... That was either an error in the workbook, or an error in the initial configs. Or maybe it was an intentional thing that your were supposed to have to troubleshoot. Either way, good job finding the root of the issue. When it comes time to do the lab, you will find multiple pre-configured mistakes that you'll need to rectify in order to pass. So use issues like these to strengthen your troubleshooting skills. On Fri, Feb 15, 2013 at 2:30 PM, Brian Stamper <[email protected]>wrote: > I just started into the workbook and in Lab1.1. In looking at the VLANs I feel its hard to understand what exactly the purpose of each vlan is which in turn makes it hard to understand the questions about what vlans need to go to what devices when asked to do so. Is there a place somewhere else in the lab workbook that explains what these vlans are that I should have read prior which would have cleared this up? Further more on this same topic it appears each site has a NetMgmt vlan (10 at the HQ site and 20 at the MO site). When we are trunking the vlans to the controllers for the HQ site we include this NetMgmt vlan 10 and yet at the MO site it excludes vlan 20. Again this adds to the confusion of what vlans are meant for what purpose unless I'm missing a detail in the question that isn't explained in the solution which could also be the case? -- Thanks, Brian Stamper CCNP Wireless, VCP 5157243424 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I believe the cost for the even vlans is applied to the wrong interface. In order to make Cat3 prefer a route through Cat1 to the root Cat2 for even vlans we'd have to apply the cost to Fa 0/20 on Cat3. The workbook and final configs have it on Fa0/22 on cat 3 (pointing the wrong way). The cost on the path out of Fa0/22 for the even vlans is already 31 where the cost out Fa0/20 is 19 as its directly connected. We would need to raise it on Fa0/20 to 32 and not on Fa0/22. Is there someone who can confirm this for me. -- Thanks, Brian Stamper CCNP Wireless, VCP 5157243424 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Is this common to the lab to troubleshoot spanning tree in this detail?
