Hi Phil.

Welcome to the virtual wlc world!!!; I had the same issue and I solved it
at this way; first of all, the model of the aps is important, in my case
I'm using one cisco 1252.

- Downgrade to autonomous.
- Download the latest version of the LWAPP recovery image for this AP and
upgrade from autonomous to lightweight using the  cisco upgrade tool (in my
case). You can use already the vWLC to make the upgrade.

Don't forget to prevent the AP will register again to the previous WLC; It
will try it.

The latest version of the recovery image is a 7.3 version of software and
it allows to the ap to register to the vWLC; the vWLC don“t upgrade any AP
to its version.

Be careful with the limitations of this platform and good luck.
