Hi Jason,
Congratulations & well done. It's a great achievement.
I have booked my lab exam in two months time trying to work out a plan how to
manage this in 8 hrs. Based on my R&S lab experience I am thinking something
like this.
1. 1.5 hrs of planning (reading end to end, draw my own diagram, interpretation)
2. 5 hrs of execution with skipping difficult task.
3. 1.5 hrs of final verification & target skipped items.
Is this a reasonable strategy for wireless ? What was your strategy managing
time during this lab exam ?
Regards
Rasika

Hello all,
I'm very happy to announce that I was able to pass the CCIE Wireless lab exam
late last week. That said, I wanted to point out a few individuals in this
study group and personally thank them for their assistance (in no particular
order:)).
Kyle W. - Kyle has been an outstanding resource throughout this journey for me.
I know Kyle personally and he is and always has been willing to discuss and
assist with any of the challenges I've come across in my prep-lab scenarios
and in my technical understanding of subjects.
Kristjan and Jeff R. - I was able to get connected with both of these
individuals a few weeks ago and we've sent emails back-and-forth ever since.
They both have very deep technical knowledge of wireless technology in general,
as well as Cisco configuration specifics. I've noticed that they are both
frequent contributors to this list, so please be sure to take note when they
respond to your questions.
Jerome - I was lucky enough to take Jerome's 5-day bootcamp which was really
the start of my active pursuit of this certification.
I cannot really place a value on how instrumental those individuals were in my
journey to obtain this certification, but I want to be sure to deeply thank
them for all the assistance they've provided me.
That said, I'm sure many of you are curious about my experiences. I've been
working with wireless in general for over 10 years now. I haven't really
specialized in only wireless over those years, but I do have a firm background
in wireless technologies. When I decided to go for the Wireless CCIE, I
decided the best option for me was to attend a bootcamp. I chose the IPExpert
bootcamp and, at the time, received a 5-day training from Jerome Henry. A
bootcamp isn't going to give you everything you need to pass the lab, but it
will provide much of the needed information and practice. I should also point
out that IPExpert themselves were very easy to work with and did everything
they could (in my mind) to overcome some challenges we had along the way. I
highly recommend them if you're looking at taking a bootcamp.
I then took the exam 3 times before I finally passed. On my first attempt,
there were items that I knew I needed to work on a bit more along with trying
to figure out what they were looking for due to the phrasing of questions. I
thought I figured those things out and went for my second attempt.
After my second attempt, I really felt like I had passed the exam. I had
implemented everything I had learned from my first attempt and configured all
items on that lab as I had planned. I did come out of that attempt with a
couple of items that I wanted to spend more time on, but not that much. That
said, my final score didn't reflect how I had thought I had done on that lab.
I then had to go back and try to figure out why I was missing points on items
that I had felt like I had configured correctly.
I then had my third attempt last week. As always, it was quite the challenge
and I did have to figure some things out "on-the-fly." I did come out of the
test feeling that I did well, but I was overly cautious after my 2nd attempt.
I didn't really come away feeling like I needed more work in any specific area
this time, though. I received the email that evening that I had passed the
test (although I didn't actually notice it until the next morning) and felt a
great sense of relief:)
My tips would really be identical to what Kristjan recently posted. You do
need a good foundation of routing and switching elements. For wireless to work
successfully, the underlying routing and switching needs to be implemented
correctly as well. When reviewing questions in the lab, think about what they
may be looking for and how they may confirm that your configuration is correct
- that in itself may provide some guidance. When going through practice labs,
always try to think of other ways you can setup the lab so that you get a good
understanding of how it works. Make sure you understand how to navigate the
provided documentation. This was a lifesaver for me on a couple of items.
You're probably always going to be thrown a "curve" in the lab, and it was
helpful to be able to find supporting documentation relatively quick. As
Kristjan also mentioned, don't get stuck on troubleshooting a single item. I
had one question where I spent a
little bit of time on it and d
ecided to "concede the points" and move on with the rest of the test. If I
hadn't, I wouldn't have been able to review my configs and correct other items
that I knew well.
If you have any other specific questions for me regarding my journey, please
feel free to contact me. Obviously, I will not break NDA for any responses so
please don't ask me anything of that nature:)
Thanks,
Jason Mosier

Way to go Jason! How awesome to be a triple CCIE!
I appreciate you sharing your experience with the group as well as the kind
words for IPexpert. It was a pleasure assisting you.
