Hi all, The question is 4.3 (WB1).No APs have static configured controllers. According to workbook LAP 1 should fallback to WLC2.(obviously this is wrong)
I knew the priority but I was missing the detail in case of 2 Aps that don't have static primary/sec/tertiary controllers. Thanks Jeff for pointing this detail! If not, that's required in order for an AP to fallback to a primary WLC from a secondary (or tertiary). LAP1 does not have a static primary/secondary/tertiary controller configured. On WLC2, you have configured WLC4 as a global backup primary controller for all associated APs. On WLC4, you have configured WLC2 as a global backup primary controller for all associated APs. If that is the configuration, then LAP1 will definitely not fail back to WLC2 when it comes back up. The only time an AP is going to preemptively leave the WLC that they are joined to and move to a different one is if that other WLC is configured as a higher priority static primary/secondary/tertiary on the AP itself and the AP fallback feature is enabled on the WLC that the AP is currently associated to. Barring that scenario, it's only going to move to another WLC if it loses connection to its current WLC or if the WLC kicks it off. If I was wrong about the configuration, please clarify what is configured for the following settings. - The primary/secondary/tertiary WLCs configured on LAP1 itself - The AP fallback setting on both WLC2 and WLC4 - the backup primary/secondary global settings for WLC2 and WLC4 - The fast heartbeat timer settings on WLC2 and WLC4 Regards, Jeff Rensink : Sr Instructor : iPexpert <http://www.ipexpert.com/> CCIE # 24834 :: Wireless / R&S :: World-Class Cisco Certification Training Direct: +1.810.326.1444 :: Free Videos <http://www.youtube.com/ipexpertinc> :: Free Training / Product Offerings <http://www.facebook.com/ipexpert> :: CCIE Blog <http://blog.ipexpert.com/> :: Twitter <http://www.twitter.com/ipexpert> On Sun, Mar 23, 2014 at 7:05 PM, Xristos Stefaneskou <[email protected] > wrote: > Hi team, > > > > I'm doing a review on different failover scenarios and I'm stuck into > a strange problem. > > LAP1 is joined on WLC2 - LAP2 on WLC4. > > WLC2 is primary backup for WLC4 and vice versa. > > AP fallback and Global AP failover priority are enabled on both > controllers. > > Shutting down the WLC2 failover works and LAP1 joins WLC4 but never > joins back (fallback) when re-enable WLC2. > > I've done this many times without problems but now just doesn't wants > to work. > > > > Any idea? > > > > Best Regards, > > *Christos Stefaneskou* > > Network Engineer > > > > [image: Description: Description: Description: Description: Description: > Description: Description: cid:[email protected]] > > *[email protected] <[email protected]>* > > *TAC:* (+30) 2109548200 > > *Fax:* (+30) 2109548288 > > 206, Syggrou Avenue > > 17672 - ?allithea - Greece > > > > > > > > > > _______________________________________________ > Free CCIE R&S, Collaboration, Data Center, Wireless & Security Videos :: > > iPexpert on YouTube: www.youtube.com/ipexpertinc > -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
