I think this is really needed. Like anything a product can be great but if it doesn't look the part people can easily dismiss it and move onto something they see as easier to use (or easier on the eye take your pick).
There is a discussion on the dev list and I think it will be moved here as well but I've not see the entry so I am adding my point to Leszek's thread. I think this look (or something similar should be the new one). Yes there will be people who may be thrown by it but I think go with the good and then let people switch back if they want (generally someone sets this up for the rest of the team or people have a custom packaged version they might distribute across a farm...either way someone can make the switch back to the old theme before others use it). The problem with having the old one as the default is that 60-70% of people will probably stick with it simply because they won't realise the new one is there. Yes, it can be stated in the docs, we can blog and rave about it but blogs etc will be a temporary blip (people at the time may switch it on but in the future it will be forgotten). By having the new look as the default you make them aware straight away and then at that point they may decide...."actually I need the old one" (need not want :) ). I think then you'll see 90% using the new look and 10% (or less) switching back simply because they want to train up their users (or prepare anyway) before enabling the new skin. Saiki Kaizen rocks! I wish I could trade some dev skill for design skill sometimes :) John On Jul 24, 8:14 am, Leszek Ciesielski <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi, > > I have found a CruiseControl.Net web dashboard modification by Saiku > Kaizen (if the Google translate is correct ;-) ) that looks very nice > - simple, elegant, and with added keyboard navigation and well though > highlighting of build problems. > > Take a look > :http://www.saiku.ee/kaizen/2009/07/cruisecontrol-net-uus-ja-ilus-nagu/ > and Google Translate > version:http://www.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fww... > > Is there any chance this will get merged back into trunk? > > Regards, > > Leszek 'skolima' Ciesielski
