Postdoctoral scholarship (2 years) within Structural Biology of Switchable Proteins from Directed Evolution
The Magnus Wolf-Watz laboratory has an opening for a two-year postdoctoral scholarship. We are searching enthusiastic candidates that will focus on structure determination and mechanistic dissection of proteins with either NMR spectroscopy, molecular dynamics simulations or x-ray crystallography. The scholarship is full-time for two years with access April 1:st, 2024 or by agreement. Last day to apply is February 12 2024. The scholarship is aimed at a project with a unique combination of directed evolution and structural biology focused on development of switchable binders towards either; (1) cancer linked receptors and/or (2) purification of therapeutic antibodies. The binders are based on small soluble scaffold proteins (6-8 kDa) that has been subjected to both negative and positive selective pressures in order to render them binding-competent only in the presence of a metal ion. Directed evolution is performed using either bacterial display or phage display and the aim of the project is to dissect the structural and molecular mechanism that underlies the switchable binding capacity. The project is a collaboration with Professor Sophia Hober at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm.
