Thanks everyone who responded. Here is a summary of the responses which
fell into 3 categories ordered below in number of replies in those
categories:
1. I'm out of the office, so I'll read your e-mail when I get back.
2. "I thought you were fluent in German, weren't you?"
3. Use the yast2 utility to change the languard preference and the
keyboard layout (you must change 2 things).
Change KDE as well:
