HI,

I'm trying to install Phaser on my Windows XP computer. I would like to run Phaser through CCP4i but I'm having problems installing Phaser this way. When I click on system administration in the ccp4i gui and try to install phaser, it tells me 'uncompress file command is not implemented on this system' followed by 'failed to unpack of read contents of C:/Ccp4Temp/phaser-ccp4i-1.3.1.tar.gz This may not be a valid ccp4i package.' What should I do?

My understanding is that there isn't a mechanism within ccp4i under Windows to use a .tar.gz GUI installation file. (Or at least there wasn't the last time I asked--I'm not sure about the latest beta release.)

There's a slightly tedious manual procedure to install the components of the ccp4i GUI interface to Phaser, which is described in the README-windows.txt file that comes with the Windows download from the Phaser website.
