Hi Jan,

a good starting point would be posting here your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 since the error may come from there. Also, I would suggest you to try with different keyboards (ps-2, USB, etc.). Any relevant config-file is welcome.

By the way, updating an rpm-based distro is a painful process. My suggestion for your future installations is to use a Debian based distro, like Knoppix (with nice HW detection) or (K)Ubuntu (which is supposed to be easy to use).

Good luck,

Jon

I am sorry - this is not exactly CCP4bb topic.
I am just a bit desperate.

On Redhat EL WS3 x86_64 AFTER I have done all the recent updates,
the system still starts BUT I get the Xfree86 login window
with non-working keyboard.

I have done: all trivial and less trivial things including looking up this
behaviour on the web
different kernel versions
recompiling NVidia interface
checking XFree86Config thousand times ...
reinstalling the whole XFree86 rpm from scratch

Do I really have to reinstall the whole system which has many little add-ons to make
all the Xtallographic programs work?

Thanks,
Jan
