Thanks for the positive feedback. Yes, for reasons that are obscure to me, .NET is a dependency. This can be got from Windows Update. Alternatively, Francois has regenerated the Windows downloads so that the necessary bits of .NET are included, which we hope will be more convenient. We have also found a bug in the install.sh script for building python and tcltk from source (thanks Ralf). Its a 1-line fix in install.sh to move the source tarballs src/Python.tar and src/tcl_tk_blt.tar up one level. If you understand that, it is easy to fix, otherwise download again. Finally, due to server-stress some downloads were corrupted. If you had problems, please try again. Apart from a few problems which seem quite specific, these are the problems we know about. If you find others, please tell us.
