CCP4BB,
Here is a summary of the responses I received regarding DLS machines. Thanks to
everyone who responded to my email.

As far as Wyatt is concerned, they have excellent support. Overall I would
recommend the Dynapro cuvette reader with temp controller (really nice for
protein melting temps), but would NOT recommend the plate reader.

Wyatt is very good. I have been to their training. Everyone was nice and
professional. They tried very hard to improve their software to be more user
friendly.

We have a Dynapro Wyatt DLS (earlier sold by protein solutions). There are
several issues that remain worrisome- especially if you plan to have an
HPLC attachment (as opposed to the stand-alone mode) and the price of the
cuvette (non-standard size, and have to be procured from Wyatt). Photocor
DLS is another option that you could try. The Viscotek DLS appears to be
among the better ones.

in our lab we are currently using the Zetasizer Nano S from Malvern
Instruments. It's quite powerful and really easy to use. You can easily
measure from low to high protein concentration in a high reproducible manner.
Before we were using the DynaPro from Wyatt Technologie, I would not
recommend you this machine.

There is also RiNA, Laser Spectroscatter 201 (www.rna-network.com)
I don't know about the availability in the US, though.
