Beamline Scientist for Structural Biology Beamline 14.2
The Free University Berlin, MDC-Berlin and BESSY are operating three
X-ray diffraction beamlines for structural biology at the Berlin
electron storage ring BESSY. Free University offers for the BESSY-PX
group a position for 2 years, IIa-BAT (i.d.F.d. Anw.-TV FUB). If
applicable, this contract can be extended.
Tasks:
* Development and operation of the PX-beamlines within the framework of
a major upgrade of both experimental stations
* Software development of experimental control
* Scientific support of the research activities of academic- and
industrial user groups
* Teaching responsibilities within the BESSY-PX students course
* Possible research activities in structural biology in collaboration
with the PX-groups at MDC-Berlin and FU-Berlin
Requirements:
* PhD in natural sciences
* Practical experience in software development
* High proficiency in English
Desirable qualifications:
* PhD in Physics
* Knowledge in scientific instrumentation, electronics and ultra-high
vacuum systems
* Knowledge in X-ray diffraction and spectroscopy
* Experience in software development of instrument control and
GUI-programming
