Protein Crystallography / Structural Biology Applications are invited for a one-year postdoctoral position with a possible extention of two years at the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Stockholm University, Sweden. The position requires a Ph.D. in structural biology, biochemistry or a closely related field. The ideal candidates will have an interest in protein structure and function, and preferably experience in protein crystallization and/or structure determination by X-ray crystallography. The project involves protein purification, crystallization and structure determination of metalloproteases in collaboration with groups studying the molecular biology and biochemistry of these molecules. We recently determined the structure of presequence protease PreP from A. thaliana, which will soon be published in EMBO J. We continue our studies with human PreP as well as other members from the same protease family (diffracting crystals are available). The laboratory is located at Karolinska Institute and has excellent facilities for X-ray crystallographic studies. The institute offers a stimulating environment for research and its central location in Stockholm is readily available by public transportation.
