Hello,
We usually bring the data from synchrotron on FireWire/USB external
hard drives (many times with at least partial data processing done at the
beamline). Then we transfer it to dedicated hard disk/ RAID (with read-only
option; since so many groups share the 1.1 TB RAID) and leave it for at
least 6 months. For long-term storage we use either LTO1/LT02 or DAT72.
DAT72 drives are backward compatible for DDS3 and DDS4 and according to
www.datmgm.com they will continue to expand the capacity with DAT160 (80G
uncompressed).
