Hi Sarah:
As others mentioned, stereo apparently doesn't work yet for Apple's X11
implementation. However, I have used coot in stereo on a Mac by
displaying coot remotely on our SGIs. Since our SGIs are so old (and
slow), and since compiling coot on an SGI is almost as much fun as
sticking a burning hot needle into your eyeball, this is a viable
alternative if you have an SGI that isn't doing something important like
holding a door open.
In other words, it isn't coot's fault.
But as Wataru suggests, O is the model building program par excellance,
and runs natively on OS X.

Dear all,
What model building programs do people recommend for use on a mac? The
program must be able to do stereo on a mac-- I've got a Mac G5 with NVIDIA
Quadro FX 4500 graphics card. Quad buffered stereo works fine with Pymol. I
have installed X11, X11 SDK, Fink, CCP4, Coot etc (many thanks to Bill
Scott's excellent web pages). I haven't got the stereo working yet on Coot
(error message that no hardware capabilities are detected)--- Any suggestions
welcome.
thanks,
Sarah
