Are any of the rest of you receiving large quantities of junk e-mail in
the last 3 days or so? I have received over 50 messages, allegedly from
PayPal (I don't even have a PayPal account) with the message "Protect
Your Identity", with links they'd like me to click. The "To:" fields of
these messages contain various e-mail addresses, many of which I
recognise as members of the crystallographic community. I'm guessing
some crystallographer with my address in their mail database has had
their computer compromised. I don't think it's me because, while I
recognise many of the addresses, they are not actually in my own mail
database. So if you have a computer that seems extra sluggish, it might
be because it's busy sending out loads of spam.
