The newly established research group of Thilo Stehle at the University of Tübingen is looking for a Post-Doc. The major focus of our research is to define molecular mechanisms of attachment and cell entry for viruses and other pathogens. We use protein crystallography in conjunction with other biophysical techniques and functional assays to elucidate principles of interactions between pathogens and host cell receptors. The ultimate objectives of these studies are (1) to understand the features that are used by pathogens for docking to the cell, (2) to correlate differences in disease with structural differences between pathogens, (3) to contribute to our under-standing of pathogen evolution, and (4) to develop strategies that can lead to productive interference with the attachment process (i.e. drug design). We are looking for highly motivated individuals with a background in biochemistry, molecular biology, or virology to join our expanding research team. Experience in structural biology will certainly be beneficial. Our group has recently moved from Harvard Medical School in Boston to Tübingen, and we occupy a newly equipped laboratory with state-of-the-art facilities within the Interfacultary Institute for Biochemistry. The available position is funded through SFB grants from the DFG. More information about the laboratory and specific projects, including publications, can be found on our website: http://www.ifib.uni-tuebingen.de/Stehle/ For further information please contact: Prof. Dr. Thilo Stehle Interfakultäres Institut für Biochemie Universität Tübingen Hoppe-Seyler-Str. 4 72076 Tübingen +49-7071-2973043 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
