Hi All, Sorry for the non-CCP4 related post but this may be of interest to some here. For those of you who are Mac users, interested in perhaps attending the worldwide developers conference, there is a news item at MacResearch that might be of interest to you. Apple will be hosting a scientific poster session at the WWDC this year. This may sound odd, but in the past there has been a lot of demand for such a thing. This will allow the following for those choose to participate: 1) You can highlight your work at the developers conference. This a good opportunity to meet with other scientists who are using Apple technology (and there is a growing number of them) to see how they are exploiting it for their work and to see what others are doing outside your field of interest. 2) For application developers that are creating tools for scientists this a great opportunity to provide feedback to them, talk about possible new features and inquire about software related issues (note that I'm talking about applications that may be ancillary to the standard crystallographic tools). 3) Talk with and meet some of the people at Apple who may be involved in decision making to voice your concerns, requests or praise. 4) It's a good excuse to visit San Fransisco and since you may be presenting a poster at a scientific poster session may be able to justify the cost of the conference. More information can be found below (and at the links included in the article). If you have additional questions please feel free to contact me or post on the MacResearch site. http://www.macresearch.org/apple_announces_scientific_poster_session_at_wwdc_2006 Regards, Dave -- David W.
