A position is available for a dedicated postdoctoral Scientific Officer to work in the Institute for Cell and Molecular Biosciences (Structural Biology Laboratory) at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. Working with Drs Rick Lewis and Mark Banfield the appointee will occupy a central position in the laboratory and contribute to numerous collaborative research projects. In addition, the appointee will be responsible for managing the laboratory’s crystallography facilities (modern X-ray generator, temperature controlled room/incubators, nano-litre crystallisation robot) and organise and lead synchrotron trips in the UK and Europe. Full participation in research will be expected, and will lead to authored publications. A proven track-record in protein crystal structure determination is essential. Some knowledge of crystallography equipment maintenance would be advantageous, but training will be made available if required. A working knowledge of protein expression/purification techniques is non-essential, but favourable.
