Group leader position for ERATO Human Receptor Project

Division of Molecular Biosciences, Imperial College London

Salary in the range: £30,710 - £40,430 per annum

Applications are invited for a group leader position, starting as
soon as possible.
The successful candidate will be based at the Membrane Protein
Laboratory at the Diamond Light Source (Oxfordshire) managed by
Imperial College London. This appointment is fixed term for up to 7
months (until 31/03/2007) in the first instance and renewable for up
to 4 years (because of the sponsors financial regulation, the
contract needs to be renewed each year).

The ERATO Human Receptor Project, which is funded by the Japan
Science and Technology Agency, has two sites; one in Kawasaki, Japan
and the other at the Diamond Light Source in the UK. The Japanese
site is responsible for establishing the expression and the
crystallization methods of human membrane proteins. The UK site is
responsible for establishing the high throughput crystallization and
the high quality X-ray data collection systems for membrane protein
crystals with a particular emphasis on human membrane proteins.
Candidates with exceptional research qualifications in
crystallization and crystallography, particularly on membrane
proteins and macromolecular assemblies, are encouraged to apply. A
strong record in solving structures of difficult but highly
interesting macromolecules is essential. Experience of data
collection techniques using synchrotron radiation and high throughput
crystallization will be advantageous. The successful candidate is
expected to supervise 3 research associates and one technical
assistant in collaboration with Professor So Iwata and the beam line
scientists.

Salary will be in the range £30,710 - £40,430 per annum, depending on
qualifications and experience. Informal enquiries may be made to
Professor So Iwata, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
