Siegfried Biologics GmbH, located in Berlin, Germany, is a subsidiary of
the global Swiss bio-pharmaceutical company Siegfried Ltd. We develop
and produce biopharmaceutically active substances. In order to expand
our position in a fast growing and exciting market we are recruiting for
the position of Associate Scientist based at our Process Development
Laboratories in Charlottenburg.
Position summary
The successful candidate for this challenging position will be
responsible for planning and conducting scientific research applicable
to product development of second-generation protein therapeutics. He/She
will deploy a number of protein purification schemes to purify
potentially novel products for small-scale PD/PK studies. The candidate
will be a self-starter and team player who can successfully apply
professional concepts and his/her scientific know-how to achieve a
unique technology and product position for the company.
Responsibilities
- Independently design and conduct experiments to achieve target results
within agreed timeframes and report according to internal guidelines
- Participate in the development process for patent applications and
novel products
- Serve as the key person to coordinate different departments, customers
and partners with respect to assigned research and development projects
Requirements
- Degree in a life sciences related field, e.g.
biochemistry/biotechnology/chemistry or chemical / bioengineering
- PhD desired but qualified engineers or graduates (diploma) are also
encouraged to apply
- Prior experience in an industrial or academic R&D setting would be an
asset
- Proven track record in chemical protein derivation (e.g. PEGylation)
by various principles is essential
- Sound knowledge of various protein purification and characterization
strategies is a must
- Expertise in structural biology and/or protein engineering is preferred
- Ability to critically review scientific data and draw conclusions for
further work is absolutely required as is the ability to present in
front of international audiences
- Ability to work independently and meet timelines under pressure
- Fluent in English (verbal and writing skills)
- Computer literacy required: MS-Office package, specialty software
(e.g. chromatography systems)
