Postdoctoral position in protein crystallography and molecular modeling

Join a team of medical doctors, molecular biologists, molecular modelers, chemists, and pre-clinical studies specialists at the University of Washington, Seattle. The goal is to develop by structure-based methods anti-Trypanosoma cruzi drugs that target sterol biosynthesis. Protein crystallographers who want to gain experience in molecular modeling are encouraged to apply.

Job description: The post-doctoral fellow will solve structures to identify and characterize key functional sites in the proteins; discover by computational methods, such as molecular docking, ligands that bind the key sites; design small focused compound libraries from crystallographically verified initial ligand binding modes, in dialogue with synthetic chemists. Excellent software and hardware is available.

Qualifications: Required – Ph.D. in protein x-ray crystallography. Strongly desired – chemistry background. Excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and the ability to work in a team are critical.

The position is immediately available.
Note: This is NOT the MSGPP position advertised in the Spring of 2006.
