Post
Doctoral Positions in Structural Biology at the University of Toronto
Post Doctoral positions in structural biology are available
at the University
of Toronto and the Structural
Genomics Consortium. In addition to conducting purification and crystallization
experiments, fellows coordinate the determination of structures of proteins of
a particular human gene family, conduct follow-up experiments, and initiate
external collaborations in order to advance our understanding of the molecular
function, biological role, and/or therapeutic potential of targeted proteins. Available
for assistance in obtaining these goals are various in-house resources,
including 1) a molecular biology team that performs cloning and mutagenesis, 2)
a biophysics group that characterizes catalytic and binding properties of
proteins and performs limited library screening, and 3) a protein
crystallography group that solves crystal structures and assists in pursuing
follow-up structural studies. Some classes of proteins that are currently being
targeted in the laboratory include the ubiquitylation system, proteases
involved in signal transduction, and protein kinases.
