We kindly request PX-proposals for beamtime applications for the next beamtime period: February/2007 - February/2008. In order to apply for beamtime, please register at the BESSY online access tool "BOAT" (http://www.bessy.de/boat/www/) and submit a new beamtime application proposal. It is possible to propose a number of projects within the proposal lifetime of one year. BESSY provides PX beamtime at the PX-beamlines 14.1 and 14.2. The requested beamtime is granted based on the reviewed proposal and reports from previous research activities at BESSY.

Tunable energy range: 5.0 - 16.5 KeV (2.4A - 0.75A)
Photon-flux: 1.6-1.9x1011 Phot/s/100mA (13 keV, 2eV energy resolution, 200x200µm focal spot)
Exposure times: 3-20 sec (for crystals of 20µm edge length onwards)
Detectors: BL14.1 MARMOSAIC-225mm, BL14.2 MARCCD-165mm
Average data collection time: 20min (100 frames, 10sec exposure)
Crystal centering: Remote click centering
Cryogenics: Oxford Instruments Cryojet XL with full Spine-pin compatibility
Software: CCP4, MOSFLM, XDS, HKL2000, COOT, SHELX-package, XPREP, HKL2MAP, SOLVE/RESOLVE and others For additional information please visit http://www.psf.bessy.de/userguide/beamlines/beamlines.shtml.

The following additional features are available for applicants with granted beamtime:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
* Fast beamtime scheduling:
We can normally schedule requested beamtime within 2 weeks or sometimes faster. Starting in Fall 2006, a newly available calendar tool will be added to the user interface for all beamtime bookings.

* Optimal traveling & accomodation possibilities:
BESSY is located in the south-eastern part of Berlin, 10 min away from the international airport Schoenefeld and 1 h from the international airport Tegel and can easily be reached by public transport connections. The BESSY-guesthouse and nearby hotels provide onsite accomodation within 5 min walking distance from the beamlines. A commute to the center of Berlin takes 20 min. A newly available freeway exit at BESSY provides access if traveling by car.

* Financial support for EU users and users from German universities:
EU users as well as users from German universities can apply for financial support for carrying out the experiments at BESSY, including travel and accommodation.

* High profile user support at the beamline:
The PX-beamline users are supported by our experienced scientists, who will assist you during experimental setup, edge-scans, setup of data-evaluation and -backup as well as with all radiation and lab security issues. Cell-phone user support during after-work hours can be arranged. 24h technical support in case of failure / malfunctions of the hardware systems is available via cell-phone.
