Description 
Diamond Light Source Ltd is currently constructing the largest scientific 
research facility to be built in the UK for 30 years. It will produce 
incredibly intense light beams, mainly as X-rays, that can penetrate deep 
inside all kinds of matter from proteins to plastics to enable world class 
research. The synchrotron is being built 10 miles south of Oxford and the first 
beamlines will be operational in 2007.

The Data Acquisition Group is responsible for supporting the computer software 
needs of the Diamond beamlines including development, interfacing and 
architecture. We currently wish to expand this lively and forward thinking 
group to address the ever-increasing need for us to produce technically 
advanced and challenging solutions to the requirements of our scientists.
 
Key duties will be:
Developing data acquisition and analysis software, working in collaboration 
with the Data acquisition team at the CCLRC Synchrotron facility 

Assisting the Group Leader in developing and implementing DLS Data Acquisition, 
Data Handling, and Data Analysis software for beamlines and experiments. 

Working closely with colleagues in the DLS Science Division, particularly the 
beamline scientists. 
Computing consultant for one or more scientific beamlines.
