POSTDOCTORAL POSITION
"Protein X-ray crystallographer"
A position is available in the laboratory of Olga Mayans at Biozentrum,
University of Basel for a postdoctoral researcher experienced in the
several aspects of structure elucidation by X-ray crystallography.
Familiarity with protein expression and purification is desirable.
Expertise in X-ray data collection at synchrotron sources and
computational treatment of data and models is an absolute requirement.
The selected candidate will participate in an interdisciplinary project
to investigate the conformational dynamics and function of filamentous
protein scaffolds. This requires of the application of varied structural
and biophysical approaches and, thus, a motivation to pursue structural
biology in its several flavors. Candidates will be expected to be
innovative and genuinely interested in hybrid approaches.
The Division of Structural Biology at Biozentrum is fully equipped for
the structural analysis of proteins and large assemblies using NMR,
electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy and X-ray crystallography.
A full range of protein expression systems are in operation for sample
production and multiple biophysical techniques are available for sample
characterization.
